Dionysus was the god of agriculture, festivals and wine. His Roman name was Bacchus. He was the last god to join the 12 Olympians. Hestia gave up her seat for him. He often carried a pinecone-topped staff and his followers were satyrs. He was often seen with wine grapes and wine cups. Dionysus’ parents were Zeus and the Mortal Princess Semele. He was the only god to have a mortal parent.  When Hera heard that Semele was pregnant by Zeus she disguised herself as Semele’s nurse and persuaded her to see Zeus in his True Form. Zeus let her see him in his true form and by accident his Thunder and Lightning blasted her. Zeus took the baby and sewed him into his thigh until he was ready to be born. As a child, he was tutored by Silenus who was a great lover of wine. He taught many people how to grow  vines.  Dionysus also granted King Midas the power to turn everything into gold. Dionysus rescued Ariadne after Theseus abandoned her. He then married her. He was also married to Aphrodite,Nyx, Althea, and Circe. His Children were Charites, Aglea, Euphrosyne, Thalia, Hymenaios, Priapus, Oenopion, Thoas, Staphylus, Peparethus, Phthonus, Acis, Deinaneira, and Comus.   Dionysus' siblings were Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, and Hephaestus, which were basically all of Zeus' children who became Olympians.
